We are now sadly getting towards the end of our trip with only a couple of days left. In the final couple of days we are collating all of our data and making sure we have back ups and checking that everything is formatted correctly. We have also now merged the photos from the flights into a flat singular image that is very impressive and detailed.
One of the biggest issues we are facing now is the size of the data is making it hard to work with due to the long loading times and the pressure in exerts on the computer – we are generating point clouds that on only medium resolution already exceed 20 million points and images that are over a gigapixel!
We have sorted out the kit we are going to use to collect the GPS control points tomorrow. We have decided on a plan of action to collect the points and after that all of the data will have been collected and we can go home happy and start analysing the data.
