Project Briefing
Hey all, I’m Matt, and I’ll be working on the ‘Climate Change and Disappearing Glaciers’ project with Professor Chris Stokes. Our aim is to investigate how small glaciers in the Lyngen Peninsula, northern Norway, have responded to climate change over the last 50 years or so. Throughout the year I’ll be undertaking preparatory work by searching the literature and undertaking GIS and remote sensing work on the region’s glaciers, before Chris and I head off to get up close and personal with them next summer. I’m really looking forward to getting started, and I’ll try and keep you updated on here as to how things are going. I’ll be hitting the books tomorrow to try and find everything everyone’s ever written about Lyngen’s glaciers (hopefully not too much), so wish me luck!
